The drama between Prince Harry and his father, King Charles III, is even worse than we may have thought after things in UK court did not go his way.
The prince recently sat down with BBC for a bombshell interview following his loss in court, where his appeal to a previous ruling that declared his publicly-funded security would be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, making it “impossible” for him to return to the UK from California. He told the network that the legal issue had led to his father, King Charles III, not speaking to him, which he hopes will change one day. Read more about the intense royal family drama below.
Prince Harry Says He Is ‘Devastated’ Following His Loss In Court
On Friday, May 2nd, the Duke of Sussex sat down for a tell-all interview with the BBC to give a more in-depth answer about his feelings regarding his latest legal drama. After stepping back from his royal duties and moving to the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, it was decided by the UK’s Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures that Prince Harry would no longer receive public-funded security protection during his visits home to the UK.
The ruling was quite intense and made it so that his security needs would be assessed on a case-to-case basis. Wanting to one day be able to visit his home country but worried for his family’s safety, he submitted an appeal, which the court rejected on May 2nd after they found the initial decision wasn’t unlawful.
When the 40-year-old spoke with Nada Tawfik from the BBC in his California home just a few hours later, he told his interviewer that the court’s decision “devastated” him.
“[I’m] pretty gutted about the decision,” said Harry.”It certainly has proven that there was no way to win this through the courts. [I] wish somebody had told me that beforehand.”
When asked if he and his family would be able to return to the UK one day, he responded, “For the time being, it’s impossible for me to take my family back to the UK safely.”
The prince also stated that the decision was a difficult one to take, given that he “can never escape” his title and identity as a member of the royal family. He also admitted to missing his brother and other relatives and being able to spend time in the UK, noting that the core of the drama is a “family dispute.”
“It makes me really, really, sad,” he admitted.

Prince Harry Says King Charles III Has Not Been Speaking To Him And He Wants To Reconcile With His Family
In the middle of the emotional interview, Tawfik asked Harry about where his relationship with his father, King Charles III, stands and how it feels to know his children may not be able to visit their grandfather as his cancer progresses.
He revealed that his father could have potentially helped him have a better chance at winning his case but chose not to. Prince Harry also confirmed that his father has not been speaking to him amid the security drama, which he hopes one day will change.
"There have been so many disagreements [and] differences between me and some of my family," he explained.
"Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things. But you know, I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious."
The dad of two also noted that he doesn't know "how much longer" his father has since he "won't speak to him."
At the end of his interview, Prince Harry noted that he was feeling "let down," especially since he thought that despite all of their disagreements, his family would work to ensure that he always remained safe in his home country, where he continues to hold his royal title, even though he's not performing duties there.
"I thought with all of the chaos that's happening, the one thing that I could rely on was my family keeping me safe," he said.
"Not only did they decide to remove my security in the UK, but they also signaled to every single government around the world not to protect us."
